HMS 0300-2500-0001-0008: nozzle touches the heated bed abnormally

HMS 0300-2500-0001-0008 affects the Bambu H2 and X2D. Something sits higher than expected, so the first check is underneath the build plate and the second is the nozzle tip itself.
Short answer

HMS 0300-2500-0001-0008 means a nozzle made contact with the bed harder or earlier than the machine expected, and it asks you to check for filament in the way. On a dual-nozzle machine this matters twice over: the two tips have to agree about where the bed is, and anything holding one of them high throws the whole relationship out.

Affected machines: H2 and X2D. The printer measures the contact rather than assuming it, which is why it can tell the difference between a normal touch and an abnormal one. That measurement is also why a crumb of plastic half a millimetre thick is enough to trigger the code.

Work from the bottom up

Start underneath the plate. A fragment of purge, a bead of filament or a piece of a failed print that slid under the sheet lifts a whole corner, and it is invisible with the plate in place. Lift the sheet, wipe the magnetic base, and check both faces.

Then the nozzle. A skirt of cooked filament on the tip makes the nozzle effectively longer, so it meets the plate before the machine expects. Clean it warm rather than cold, and inspect the tip rather than assuming it is clean because the last print was fine.

Only then re-run levelling. Running a mesh over a crumb bakes the error into the map, so the sequence matters: clear, clean, then measure.

Symptom

Printer reports the nozzle touching the bed abnormally, often during levelling or at the start of a print

Most likely cause

Debris under or on the plate, cooked filament on the nozzle tip, or a dented plate

The fix
  1. Power off and let the bed and hotend cool enough to handle safely.
  2. Lift the build plate off and inspect both the underside of the sheet and the magnetic base.
  3. Wipe both surfaces clean, checking for a bead of filament that has welded itself to the base.
  4. Clean the nozzle tip at about 150 degC with a brass brush, removing any skirt of cooked plastic.
  5. Wash the plate with dish soap and warm water, then refit it square against its locating features.
  6. Run a full levelling cycle and watch the reported mesh for a single high point, which would mean something is still trapped.

If the mesh shows a dent rather than a bump, the plate has been damaged by a previous crash. A dented sheet cannot be flattened and will produce this code again, so replacing it is the honest fix.

Can I just re-run levelling?

Not before you clear the debris. A mesh measured over a crumb records the crumb as part of the bed.

How do I know if the plate is dented?

The mesh shows a low spot that stays in the same place after cleaning. Bumps move; dents do not.

Does it matter which way round I refit the plate?

Yes. Use the locating features every time, because a plate fitted rotated changes where every measured point lands.

Why does this happen more on a dual-nozzle machine?

Because two tips must agree about the bed. Anything that holds one of them high is measured twice.
