Affiliate disclosure

LayerWalker is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising programme designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com.

As an Amazon Associate, LayerWalker earns from qualifying purchases.

What that means in practice

Some links on this site lead to Amazon. If you buy something after following one, we may receive a small commission. The price you pay is exactly the same either way. The commission comes out of Amazon’s margin, not out of your pocket.

Affiliate links are marked in two ways. Every one carries rel="nofollow sponsored" in the underlying markup, and every article that contains one shows a disclosure notice above the content, before you reach any link.

What it does not mean

  • No manufacturer pays for placement here. Paid placement is not available on this site at any price, and no manufacturer has editorial input, advance sight of content, or approval over what we publish.
  • Products are chosen after the advice is written. The diagnosis comes first. Then, if a part genuinely changes the outcome, we look for it.
  • Sometimes the answer is to buy nothing. Roughly a quarter of the articles here carry no product links at all, because the fix is a cleaner plate, a slower first layer, or a slicer setting. Adding a product to those pages would earn more and help less.
  • Compatibility tables report what fits. A part that does not fit your machine is marked as not fitting, and one we have not checked is marked “not verified”, whether or not we could earn a commission on it.

Why we do not publish prices

You will not find a price or a discount figure written into any article on this site. Two reasons. Amazon’s Associates terms prohibit stating prices that are not pulled live from their own product API. And prices change constantly, so a number typed into an article is wrong within days and quietly misleads people for years afterwards.

Where a price appears in a product box, it is pulled from Amazon and carries the timestamp of when it was fetched. Follow the link for the current figure.

Product data

Product titles, images, ratings and prices in the comparison boxes are retrieved from Amazon. They are a snapshot, not a live feed, and the box shows when it was last updated. Availability in particular changes faster than we refresh.

Star ratings that we assign are labelled “Our rating” and are editorial. Amazon customer ratings, where shown, are identified as coming from Amazon. The two are never blended.

Other affiliate relationships

Where we join a manufacturer’s own affiliate programme, the same rules apply and the relationship is disclosed on the page where it appears. At the time of writing, Amazon is the only affiliate programme in use on this site.

Advertising

This site is built to carry display advertising, though none is running at the time of writing. When it is, advertisers will have no involvement in editorial decisions and no advance sight of content, and this page will be updated to say which network is in use.
