The toolhead failed to home on X. Move the gantry by hand with the machine off — if it does not glide, you have found the fault. Sticky rails and stray debris cause this far more often than electronics.
Bambu reports abnormal X-axis homing and asks you to check whether the toolhead is stuck or whether resistance on the X-axis linear rail is too high. Homing works by driving until the motion stalls at a known point; too much friction anywhere along the travel looks identical to reaching the end.
Affected machines: H2, H2S, P2S, X2D. The same pattern on Y appears as a separate code.

Feel the axis before you touch settings
Homing fails at startup or before a print, often with a knocking sound
Mechanical resistance or an obstruction on the X axis
- Power off. Slide the toolhead across its full travel by hand. It should move with light, even pressure the whole way.
- Find the stiff spot. Resistance in one place means debris on the rail; resistance everywhere means the rail needs cleaning and lubrication.
- Clean the carbon rods or linear rail with a lint-free cloth and IPA. Do not use IPA on rail bearings themselves.
- Re-lubricate with the manufacturer’s recommended grease. Dry rails are the most common cause of this error on machines a year or two old.
- Check for a purged blob or a piece of a failed print wedged at one end of the travel.
- Check the belt is not so loose that it skips teeth under acceleration.
Do not over-tighten the belt
The instinct after a homing error is to tension everything. A belt that is too tight loads the motor bearings and pulls the gantry out of square, which produces dimensional errors that are much harder to diagnose than the original problem. Tension it so it is firm and stops ringing quickly when plucked, not so it sings.
Move the gantry by hand only with the printer powered off. The motors can energise without warning during a homing routine.
