The K1 Max is a 300 × 300 × 300 mm enclosed CoreXY with a 300 °C hotend, 100 °C bed, 600 mm/s, an AI camera and a lidar first-layer scanner. In 2026 it is the value large-format enclosed printer for PLA, PETG and ABS. Its weak points are the original K1 extruder on older units and a passive chamber; the K2 Plus fixes both at a higher price. Where it wins
- Volume per dollar. Few enclosed 300 mm CoreXY printers are cheaper.
- Lidar. It catches a bad first layer before an eight-hour print is wasted; see first-layer problems for what it is looking for.
- Community. Klipper underneath and a huge owner base for mods and spares. See K1 upgrades.
Where it loses
- Older units keep the original K1 extruder that clogs on abrasive filament; the K1C extruder is a common swap.
- Passive chamber. ABS and ASA work; large nylon and PC parts crack. For those, the K2 Plus or a Qidi Plus 4.
- Frame flex at 300 mm and full speed shows as ringing on tall parts; slow it down and it prints well.
Who should buy it now
Anyone who needs 300 mm enclosed for PLA, PETG and ABS and would rather spend on filament than on a heated chamber. Cosplay, props, large enclosures and batch production of small parts all fit. Buyers with nylon and PC on the list should read K1 Max vs K2 Plus first.
