Creality K1 Max Build Plate: The Larger Plate, and What a Replacement Must Match

The K1 Max takes its own plate, sized for the 300 by 300 mm bed and larger than the 235 mm K1 and K1C plate. Buy a textured PEI plate listed for the K1 Max; at this size thick spring steel matters because thin plates bow on the magnet. Add a smooth side or a second smooth plate for glossy PLA and for ABS with glue.
A larger plate has larger problems. A thin steel sheet at 300 mm plus bows between magnet points and prints an uneven first layer that the mesh cannot fully hide, and a coating that wears in the centre wears faster because the K1 Max prints more PETG and ABS per plate than a small printer does. Choose a plate for the K1 Max by thickness and coating first, then by finish.

What to check
- Listed for the K1 Max, around 315 mm square. K1 and K1C plates are 235 mm.
- Spring steel 0.5 mm or thicker.
- Coating thickness stated; the K1 Max runs ABS and ASA at 100 °C, which is hard on powder coat.
- Double-sided if you want smooth PEI without a second plate.
Surface by material
- PLA: textured PEI, 55 to 60 °C.
- PETG: textured PEI, 75 to 80 °C.
- ABS and ASA: textured PEI at 95 to 100 °C with the chamber preheated, or smooth PEI with glue stick. Large parts on a large bed show lifting first; a brim helps.

Swapping
- Wash with dish soap and water; do not touch the surface.
- Seat it against the rear stop on the magnetic bed.
- Run auto-leveling; the K1 Max re-measures the plate.
- If the first layer fails in one area only, check for a lifted magnetic sheet under the plate.
FAQ
Do K1 plates fit the K1 Max? No; too small.
Why is my K1 Max plate bowed? Thin steel or a warped magnetic sheet. Replace with a thicker plate; re-stick the sheet if it has lifted.
Glue on textured PEI for ABS? Not usually needed with the chamber warm; a little on the corners of very large parts helps.
