Creality K1 Error 2002 — Mainboard connection not established
Short answer

Creality K1 error 2002 means the system could not establish a connection to the mainboard. Everything else reports through that board, so nothing works until it is restored. The message is terse, but the order of investigation is not complicated: power first, then connectors, then the board itself.

Power before data is the rule here, because a board that is not properly supplied looks exactly like a board that will not talk.

A short message about the most central part. Power comes before data.

Where to buy

Start with the supply

Unplug at the wall, open the base, and check the power connector into the mainboard. Look for discolouration, a browned pad or darkened insulation near a terminal. Then confirm the printer is on a wall socket rather than a long extension lead shared with something that draws heavily.

Then every connector on the board

Reseat them all, pressing each fully home. Vibration on a fast machine works plugs loose over months, and transport does it in one journey. A pin pushed back into its housing looks seated and is not.

Then the board

Last, because it is the expensive answer and the least likely one. A board that has genuinely failed usually shows no signs of life at all, whereas a connection fault still produces a message, which means something is running. A board that is merely too hot complains differently, as 2512.

How Creality K1 error 2002 differs from its neighbours

A hardware connection reported as abnormal is 110. A link that exists but answers too slowly is 2343. This one is the connection failing to be established at all, which is why it tends to appear at startup rather than mid-print.

What follows it

A machine that cannot reach its mainboard refuses everything else, so expect 2283 and assorted timeouts alongside. Those are consequences. Fix this one and they disappear together.

Creality K1 Error 2002 FAQ

It appeared after a power cut. Related?

Very likely. An abrupt loss of power can leave the system in a state a clean restart clears, and it can also stress the supply.

Can a firmware update cause this?

An interrupted update can leave the board unable to start properly. If the fault began during an update, that is the first thing to mention to support.

Is it safe to keep power-cycling?

A couple of attempts are fine. Repeated cycling on a machine with a failing supply is not a diagnosis, it is a delay.

Would it help to disconnect peripherals?

It is a reasonable test. If the board connects with the print head or bed unplugged, you have narrowed the fault to that branch.

When the printer tries to recover by restarting a controller and cannot, that attempt gets its own code: Creality K1 error 2295, where power is the first suspect.
