Key figures for Which Bambu Lab Printer to Buy: A Decision Table, Not a Ranking: 180 mm A1 mini, 256 mm P/X, 340 mm H2S.
Short answer

PLA and PETG under 180 mm: A1 mini. PLA and PETG up to 256 mm: A1. Same plus ABS and ASA: P2S (or a discounted P1S). Engineering filaments with a heated chamber or a bigger bed: H2S; add a second nozzle and laser options: H2D. Larger open-frame prints: A2L. The X1C and X2D are for lidar inspection and dual-nozzle work respectively.

Bambu Lab sells nine printers that overlap on paper. Three questions sort them: how big, which filaments, and do you need a second nozzle. Price bands are left out on purpose; check the current listing.

Pick by use

  • First printer, small parts, quiet room: A1 mini. See A1 mini.
  • First printer, bigger parts, PLA and PETG: A1. See A1 vs A1 mini.
  • ABS, ASA, multi-colour, enclosed: P2S. A discounted P1S is the same class; see P1S vs P2S.
  • Nylon, PC, PPA, carbon-fibre at volume: H2S. The 65 °C heated chamber and 350 °C hotend are the real step, not the X1C.
  • Two materials in one job without purge waste, or laser and cutting: H2D.
  • Large PLA and PETG parts on an open frame: A2L, the only large Bambu that is not enclosed.
  • Unattended production with first-layer inspection: X1C or X2D, both with lidar-class inspection.

Traps

  • The A series use AMS lite; the P, X and H series use the enclosed AMS family. They are not interchangeable.
  • P1S and X1C share a hotend; P2S, X2D, H2S and H2D share a different one. Spares do not cross.
  • A1 mini plates are a different size from every other model; all 256 mm machines share plates. See Bambu build plates.
  • Only the A1 mini, A1, P1S and P2S are sold on Amazon US. The rest are bought from Bambu Lab directly.

The three listings are the models sold on Amazon US that cover most buyers: the A1, the A1 mini and the P2S Combo.
