HMS 0C00-0300-0002-0001: Filament Exposure Metering Failed

HMS 0C00-0300-0002-0001 means filament exposure metering failed: before inspecting a layer the camera has to work out how bright the scene is, and that step did not complete. Despite the name it is almost always about the lens and the light rather than about your filament.
Metering is the step nobody thinks about, which is why this code reads as more mysterious than it is.

Where to buy
Clean the lens, properly
A film of plasticiser haze cuts contrast across the whole frame, and metering is the first thing to fail when contrast drops. A lens pen with a carbon tip lifts that film without the smear a cloth leaves, and it is the right tool specifically because it is dry.
Blow first, touch second
Dust on glass is abrasive, so a dry wipe over a dusty lens is how lenses get scratched. A rubber bulb blower clears the loose material before anything touches the surface, and it does it without propellant, which is the whole argument for using one on coated glass. Squeeze it in short bursts from an inch away rather than resting it on the lens.
Then finish with lens tissue
If a mark survives the pen, individually wrapped lens tissue is the next step, used once and thrown away. The whole point is that a fresh surface meets the glass each time, which is exactly what a reused cloth cannot offer. The toolhead lens case is HMS 0C00-0100-0001-0004.
Control the light as well
Metering fails at both ends. Direct sun across the plate blows out the frame and a pitch-dark room gives it nothing to work with. Shut the door, use the machine’s own lighting, and keep the workshop lights steady rather than switching them mid-plate. Background on these cameras is in 3D printer cameras.
What HMS 0C00-0300-0002-0001 blocks
Without metering there is no inspection, so HMS 0C00-0300-0003-000B never runs and you never get a verdict. Printing continues normally; the check does not.
When cleaning does not clear it
Clean glass and steady light, and still failing, points at the camera rather than the view. A camera that is offline entirely is HMS 0C00-0100-0001-0001, and reseating its connector is the free step before contacting support.
HMS 0C00-0300-0002-0001 FAQ
Is my filament the problem?
Rarely, despite the name. Start with the lens and the light.
Can I wipe the lens with a shirt?
Do not. Fabric grinds dust across the coating and the scratches are permanent.
Does chamber lighting help?
Yes, because it is consistent. Changing room light mid-plate is what metering hates.
Why does it only happen in the afternoon?
Sun through a window. Move the machine or close the blind and the code goes away.
Not every parameter fault can be cleaned away. HMS 0C00-0100-0001-0005 means the lidar factory data cannot be read at all, and one-time-programmable values cannot be rewritten in the field.
