HMS 0300-2900-0001-0001 — Encoder pattern cannot be read
Short answer

HMS 0300-2900-0001-0001 means the encoder pattern cannot be recognized, and Bambu names three possible reasons: pattern distortion, light overexposure, and plate misplacement. Plate misplacement is the one you can check in five seconds, so check it first.

The machine reads a printed pattern to know where it is. Anything that spoils that pattern spoils the reading.

Three causes named, and plate misplacement is the one to check first.

Where to buy

Seat the plate properly

A plate pushed back against its stops in the wrong order sits a millimetre out, which moves the pattern out of the window the camera expects. Lift it and drop it in deliberately rather than sliding it, and check the corners are home.

Clean the pattern, carefully

A film of release agent or a fingerprint across the pattern is enough to break recognition. Individually wrapped optical wipes clean it without leaving fibres, and used once means you are not grinding the last job’s grit into the next one.

Deal with overexposure

Bambu names light overexposure explicitly, which means sunlight or a bright lamp across the plate. Shut the door, keep direct light off the machine, and if you need to see what you are doing use a work light held at a shallow angle rather than aimed down at the plate.

Then look for real distortion

A pattern that is scratched, scorched or peeling will not read however clean it is. Under a USB microscope you can see whether the lines are intact; at arm’s length you cannot, and you will keep cleaning something that needs replacing. A plate seated a millimetre out causes the same failure, as in HMS 0300-1800-0003-0009.

How HMS 0300-2900-0001-0001 relates to the plate marker code

The camera-side complaint about a missing plate marker is HMS 0C00-0300-0002-000C, and the two overlap: both are the machine failing to read something printed on the plate. Plate surfaces and their markings are covered in PEI build plates.

When the plate is simply worn out

Patterns wear with scraping and age. A replacement plate restores recognition instantly, which is the quickest way to know whether distortion was the cause — the H2D options are in H2D build plates.

HMS 0300-2900-0001-0001 FAQ

Which cause is commonest?

Plate misplacement, because it costs nothing to get wrong.

Can sunlight really break it?

Yes. Bambu lists overexposure as one of the three reasons.

Can I clean a scratched pattern back?

No. Cleaning helps film, not damage.

Does a third-party plate have the pattern?

Check before buying. A plate without it cannot be recognised at all.
