Bambu Lab H2D Build Plate: The Larger H2 Plate, and What Replacements Must Match

The H2D and H2S take a plate around 355 by 346 mm, larger than the 256 mm plate every earlier Bambu printer uses, so nothing from a P1, X1 or A1 fits. Buy a textured PEI plate as the everyday surface; add a smooth PEI plate for glossy PLA and for ABS with glue. Check that a replacement is listed for the H2 series specifically.
The H2 series stepped up the bed size and with it the plate. Replacement plates for it are newer and fewer than the 256 mm plates, and some listings are careless about which Bambu printer they fit, so the size and the words H2D or H2S in the listing are the things to check. The surfaces and rules are otherwise the same as on every Bambu printer.
Where to buy
What to check
- Listed for the H2D or H2S, around 355 by 346 mm. A 256 mm plate is for the older models.
- Bambu tabs and notch at the H2 size.
- Spring steel 0.5 mm or thicker; a large thin plate bows.
- Coating thickness stated. The H2D is a printer people run ABS, ASA and PA-CF on, which wear a plate faster than PLA.
Surface by material
- PLA, PETG, TPU: textured PEI.
- ABS, ASA: textured PEI with the chamber heated, or smooth PEI with glue stick.
- PA and PA-CF: textured PEI with glue stick, or an engineering plate, chamber heated. Lifting on a heated H2D usually means a greasy plate.
The plates in the box
The two listed plates are double-sided PEI plates sized for the H2D and H2S. Set the plate type manually in Bambu Studio for third-party plates without a QR code.
Swapping
- Wash with dish soap; handle by the edges.
- Set the plate type in the slicer.
- Run the H2D’s calibration on the new plate.
- Let ABS and PA parts cool before removal so the coating lasts; see smooth versus textured.
FAQ
Do P1S or X1C plates fit the H2D? No; they are 256 mm.
Does the H2D need Bambu’s own plate? No, but check the fit list carefully; H2 plates are newer and mislabelled listings exist.
Why does the first layer fail on a new plate? Grease from handling. Wash it.
