Creality TPU: Which Printers Can Actually Feed It, and the Settings That Work

Creality TPU is a Shore 95A flexible filament, the easiest grade to print. It feeds well on Creality’s direct-drive printers, the K1 series, Ender 3 V3 and Hi, and on any other direct drive; on a stock Bowden Ender 3 it needs very slow speed and a tight extruder. Dry it, print slow, keep retraction short.
Creality’s TPU is a standard 95A flexible: the grade that prints phone cases, gaskets and feet on a normal direct-drive printer. The filament itself is unremarkable in the good sense, with a stated tolerance and a wide colour range. What decides success is the printer’s extruder path. Creality’s own direct-drive machines handle it; older Bowden Enders can, slowly, if the extruder arm holds the filament tight and the tube is short.

What to check on the spool
- Shore 95A stated. Softer grades are harder to print and are not what Creality sells as standard.
- Tolerance ±0.03 mm. Oversize TPU jams in PTFE; undersize slips.
- Vacuum seal. TPU takes on water fast and wet TPU strings and foams; dry at 50 to 55 °C for 4 to 6 hours.
- Spool size. A 1 kg spool of one colour lasts a long time in TPU; smaller spools suit gaskets and feet.
Which printers feed it
- K1, K1C, K1 Max, K2 Plus, Ender 3 V3, Ender 3 V3 KE, Creality Hi: direct drive; TPU 95A prints at 60 to 100 mm/s on the fast models with their TPU profiles.
- Ender 3, 3 Pro, 3 V2: Bowden. 20 to 30 mm/s, retraction 2 to 4 mm, extruder arm tight, or fit a direct-drive kit.
- The CFS multi-material unit: not rated for flexible filament; feed from the external holder.

Settings that work
- Dry first. Every TPU failure list starts here.
- Nozzle 220 to 235 °C, bed 40 to 60 °C on bare PEI.
- Speed 60 to 80 mm/s direct drive, 20 to 30 mm/s Bowden.
- Retraction 0.5 to 1.5 mm direct drive, 2 to 4 mm Bowden, at 20 to 30 mm/s. No Z-hop.
- Fan 30 to 60 %. Flow 1.02 to 1.05; gappy walls in TPU are the extruder slipping.
- Disable coasting and wipe. Slow travel a little to cut stringing.
FAQ
Can the K1’s CFS feed TPU? No; use the external spool holder.
Can I print Creality TPU on a Bambu printer? Yes, from the external holder on any Bambu model with the generic TPU 95A profile.
Why does my TPU bunch up at the extruder? Speed too high or a gap in the filament path. Slow down and check the path between gear and hotend is fully constrained.
