HMS 0700-2000-0002-0006: AMS Detected a Broken PTFE Tube

HMS 0700-2000-0002-0006 means AMS A has detected a breakage of the PTFE tube during filament loading, and asks you to check whether the PTFE tubes inside and outside the AMS have fallen off or been damaged. A tube that has popped out of its collet reads exactly like a broken one.
Start with the joints rather than the tube. Nine times out of ten nothing is actually broken.

Where to buy
Capricorn Bowden PTFE Tubing XS Series 1 Meter for 1.75mm Filament (Genuine Capricorn Premium Tubing)
Check every collet before you cut anything
Each pneumatic fitting grips the tube with a ring of steel teeth, and a tube that has crept back a millimetre loses its seal without looking any different. Push each one firmly home, then pull gently to confirm it holds.
Replace the length that is actually damaged
A kinked or scored section does not recover, and a low-friction PTFE Bowden tube in 1.75 mm bore is the cheapest part on the whole machine. Buy a length rather than a short piece; you will want the spare.
Cut it square, not at an angle
A tube cut with side cutters ends up oval and chamfered, and that end never seats properly in the collet. A proper PTFE tube cutter gives a flat face in one squeeze, which is the whole difference between a repair that holds and one that walks out again.
Replace tired fittings while you are in there
PC4-M10 couplers wear out: the teeth round off and the tube slips under retraction load. They cost a couple of dollars for a pack, and replacing the pair at a joint that has failed once is cheaper than diagnosing it twice.
How HMS 0700-2000-0002-0006 differs from a feed timeout
If the tube is intact but the filament simply never arrives, you get HMS 0700-2000-0002-0010 instead. This code means the AMS actively detected a break in the path, which is a stronger statement.
When the filament is stuck rather than the tube broken
A jam inside the buffer gives HMS 0700-2000-0002-000A, which names the buffer explicitly. How the tubes are routed through the system is set out in the AMS hub guide, and Bowden paths generally in direct drive versus Bowden.
HMS 0700-2000-0002-0006 FAQ
Is the tube really broken?
Usually not. A tube that has slipped out of its collet reports the same way.
Which tube should I check first?
The one from the AMS to the hub. It flexes the most.
Can I reuse a cut tube?
Only if the new end is square. Recut it rather than pushing in a chewed end.
Does tube quality matter?
For retraction accuracy, yes. A tight, low-friction bore keeps the feed honest.
The tube can fail inside the unit as well as outside it. HMS 0700-2000-0002-0023 means the tube inside the AMS is broken, or the feed-out Hall sensor can no longer detect the filament.
