HMS 0700-2000-0002-0023: Tube Broken Inside the AMS or Feed-Out Sensor Faulty

HMS 0700-2000-0002-0023 means that in AMS A slot 1 the tube inside the AMS is broken, or the feed-out Hall sensor is faulty and cannot detect the filament. One is a plastic tube, the other is an electronic part, and you can tell them apart by looking.
Open the unit, follow the path, and the broken tube is either there or it is not. That is a five-minute test of the cheaper cause.

Where to buy
Replace the internal tube run
PTFE tube in the 2 mm bore, 4 mm outside size is the standard for this path, and a five-metre roll costs less than a spool of filament. Buy the length rather than the offcut: you will use the rest on the external runs.
Test the sensor rather than guessing
These are Hall effect devices, and a replacement module costs a few dollars. If you are comfortable with a connector and a soldering iron, it is a genuine repair rather than a service visit.
Light the inside properly
A rechargeable headlamp puts the light exactly where you are looking and leaves both hands for the tube. Inside an AMS, a torch held in your teeth is not a plan.
Then decide which half it was
A tube that is intact and a sensor that still reports nothing is an electronics repair. A split tube explains everything and costs almost nothing. Which parts are serviceable differs by unit — see AMS 2 Pro versus AMS.
How HMS 0700-2000-0002-0023 differs from snapped filament
Filament that broke inside the unit gives HMS 0700-2000-0002-0015. This code is about the path itself failing, which is a repair rather than a clear-out.
When it is wider than one slot
A fault across every slot points at HMS 0700-2000-0001-0081 and the main board instead. The internal routing is set out in the AMS hub guide.
HMS 0700-2000-0002-0023 FAQ
Which tube size do I need?
2 mm bore, 4 mm outside diameter, for 1.75 mm filament.
Can I replace the sensor myself?
If you can solder a three-wire module, yes.
Why does the message offer two causes?
Because both produce the same result: no filament detected.
Is the AMS usable meanwhile?
Other slots are. That one is not.
