HMS 0300-2700-0001-0008 means the signal during nozzle offset calibration is too weak, either because the nozzle is sticky with material or because the nozzle never moved over the sensor at all. The first cause is visible from across the room, so look before you investigate.
A nozzle wearing a collar of burnt plastic presents the wrong surface to the sensor, and no calibration can read through it.

Where to buy
Clear the bore first
A set of cleaning needles in the right diameter clears partial blockages that are feeding the ooze in the first place. Clean inside before you tidy outside, or the collar comes straight back.
Take the collar off the outside
A brass wire brush removes baked-on material from a hot nozzle without scoring the tip, which a steel brush will. Brass is softer than the nozzle; that is the whole reason it is the right tool, and the hardness difference is explained in brass versus hardened steel nozzles.
Purge what is left inside
Cleaning filament pushes residue and colour out of the melt zone in a few cycles, and it is the least invasive way to finish the job. It is also the one to reach for if the stickiness returns after a material change.
Then check the second cause
If the nozzle is clean and the message persists, the toolhead may not be reaching the sensor at all. A homing failure or an obstruction on the path produces exactly this message, and nothing you do to the nozzle will change it.
How HMS 0300-2700-0001-0008 differs from a deviation
If the calibration completes but lands far from expectation, that is HMS 0300-2700-0001-0006 and points at installation. A weak signal means the measurement never got going.
When it is the signal path instead
Intermittent weakness with a visibly clean nozzle looks much like HMS 0300-2500-0001-000C, where contact is the culprit. Blockage symptoms are set out in clearing a clogged nozzle.
HMS 0300-2700-0001-0008 FAQ
What does sticky mean here?
Material clinging to the outside of the nozzle, changing what the sensor sees.
Can I brush a cold nozzle?
Warm it first. Cold residue chips rather than lifting, and you risk the tip.
Why would the nozzle not move over the sensor?
A homing fault or something fouling the path. Check travel by hand, powered off.
Does filament type matter?
Yes. High-temperature and filled materials leave more residue behind.
