HMS 0700-2000-0002-000A — Could not adjust filament position
Short answer

HMS 0700-2000-0002-000A means the AMS failed to adjust the filament position of Slot 1, and that the filament or the buffer may be stuck. Those are two different jams in two different places, and the filament end is the one you can see.

Most of these start with a filament end that is no longer a clean round tip.

Two named suspects: the filament, or the buffer.
Two named suspects: the filament, or the buffer.

Where to buy

Cut the end square and start again

A filament end that has been snapped, melted or flattened will catch on every collet it meets. A flush cutter gives a clean angled tip that feeds, which is why it belongs next to the machine rather than in a drawer.

Deal with the burr the cut leaves

Even a good cut leaves a lip on one side. A deburring tool takes it off in one pass, and on a path with several collets that lip is exactly what snags.

Get hold of what is actually stuck

Long needle-nose pliers reach into the slot and pull a stub out without you taking the AMS apart. Trying it with fingers is how a short stub becomes a stub you cannot reach at all.

Then check the buffer, because the message names it

The buffer holds a loop of filament under light tension. A loop that has jumped its channel or doubled on itself will not move, and no amount of work at the slot end changes that.

How HMS 0700-2000-0002-000A differs from a timeout

A retraction that simply never finishes is HMS 0700-2000-0002-0011. This code means the AMS tried to reposition the filament and could not, which points at something physically held.

When the path itself is the problem

A collapsed or detached tube gives HMS 0700-2000-0002-0006, and a blockage at the far end behaves like a jam too — see clearing a clogged nozzle and printers with an AMS.

HMS 0700-2000-0002-000A FAQ

Where do I look first?

The filament tip. It is visible and free to fix.

What is the buffer for?

It stores slack so retraction does not fight the spool.

Can brittle filament cause this?

Yes. Old PLA snaps inside the tube and leaves a fragment behind.

Should I pull hard?

No. Release the collet first, then draw it out gently.

Filament that is held can end up filament that is broken. HMS 0700-2000-0002-0015 means a breakage may have happened inside the AMS, and the fragment has to come out before the slot works again.
