HMS 0700-2000-0002-0003 means the filament in that AMS slot may be broken inside the AMS itself. The location is the point of the message: a fragment stuck in the AMS is reached differently from one stuck in the toolhead, and Bambu issues a separate code for each so you open the right half of the machine.
Getting that distinction wrong costs you a toolhead teardown you did not need.

Where to buy
Read the location before you touch anything
This code says the AMS. Its sibling, 0700-2000-0002-0004, says the filament may be broken in the toolhead. Same material, same snap, two different recovery jobs. If you have the toolhead version, nothing in the AMS needs opening.
Why filament snaps in the first place
Dry filament is tough; filament that has absorbed moisture becomes brittle and breaks at bends. The AMS has bends by design, which is why a spool that printed fine six months ago snaps on its first pass through now. That is a storage outcome rather than a machine fault — see filament storage.
Recovering the fragment
Work from the slot end and follow the filament path rather than pulling blindly. A broken end has a snapped tip rather than a cut one, and it catches on whatever it meets. Once you find both halves, the path is clear; if only one end comes out, keep going.
Then cut a clean tip before reloading
A snapped end carries a burr, and a burr catches in exactly the places the first break happened. Cut it square with a sharp flush cutter rather than scissors, which crush rather than cut.
Preventing the next one
Dry the spool before trusting it again. A filament that has snapped once will snap again at the next bend, and drying is the only thing that restores toughness — the cheap approach is in a DIY filament dryer. Brittle material in a multi-slot system causes repeated interruptions rather than one.
HMS 0700-2000-0002-0003 FAQ
How do I know which half the break is in?
The code tells you. That is its entire purpose, so read the last four digits carefully.
Can I print with that slot empty?
Yes, once the fragment is out. A blocked slot with debris in it is the thing to avoid.
Is the spool still usable?
After drying, usually. Without drying it will snap again.
Does PLA go brittle too?
Yes, though less dramatically than nylon or PETG. Months open on a shelf is enough, and the chain through the AMS is covered in the AMS hub guide.
