Creality K1 Error 2560: Main MCU Silent for 5 Seconds

Creality K1 error 2560 means communication with the main controller was lost, and Creality is specific about what that means: no data received for more than five seconds. Their remedy is equally direct — check the wiring connection and restart. Five seconds of total silence is a long time, which rules out ordinary jitter.
A stated threshold is useful, because it tells you this is not a marginal timing issue.

Where to buy
Five seconds means something stopped
Brief delays and dropped messages produce different codes. Total silence for five seconds means the controller stopped sending, which happens when it resets, loses power, or the link is physically broken. That is a shorter list than “communication problem” suggests.
Check the wiring, as instructed
With the machine unplugged at the wall, reseat every connector on the path between boards. Look for a pin pushed back in its housing, a latch that never clicked, and a cable pinched by a panel screw. Transport and vibration are the usual causes.
Then power
A controller that browns out stops sending for exactly this kind of interval and then recovers. If the fault correlates with the bed heater switching on, the supply is the suspect rather than the data wiring — the same reasoning applies to 2298.
How Creality K1 error 2560 differs from the timeout
A link that answers too slowly reports as 2343. One that drops the occasional message is 2091. This one is silence. Slow, lossy and silent are three different conditions, and only the last one means something stopped rather than struggled.
If it appears at startup
Then the controller may never have come up, which reads as a connection never established — 2002. Mid-print silence is the more alarming case because something that was working stopped.
Creality K1 Error 2560 FAQ
Does restarting fix it?
It recovers the session. It does not change a loose connector, so expect it back if that is the cause.
Can I print with it appearing occasionally?
No. Five seconds of silence mid-print means motion and heating were unsupervised for five seconds.
Is the mainboard failing?
Rarely. Connections and power explain most of these and both are free to check.
It started after I moved the printer. Related?
Almost certainly. Transport unseats connectors more effectively than months of printing.
Not every internal link joins two microcontrollers. The one between the Linux host and the motion controller has its own code, Creality K1 error 2563, and a working screen on a dead machine is its signature.
