Bambu Lab P2S: What Changed From the P1S and Who It Is For

Short answer

The P2S is the P1S successor: same 256 mm enclosed CoreXY, but with a 600 mm/s toolhead, 110 °C bed, 1080p 30 fps camera, vision-based calibration, the tool-less H2-series hotend and the AMS 2 Pro with built-in drying. It is the default enclosed printer for PLA through ASA in 2026. Step up to the H2 series only if you need a heated chamber, 350 °C or a bigger bed.

The P2S keeps everything that made the P1S the reference enclosed hobby printer and fixes the things people actually complained about. Plates, AMS units and most accessories carry over. The hotend does not, and that is the one compatibility trap worth reading twice.

What carries over from the P1S, and what does not

  • Carries over: 256 mm build plates, first-generation AMS units, most slicer profiles and the general maintenance routine.
  • Does not: hotends. The P2S uses the H2-series quick-swap unit. P1S hotends and nozzles do not fit. Buy spares listed for the P2S, H2D, H2S or X2D. Details in P2S upgrades.

Who should buy it

Anyone who wants an enclosed multi-colour printer and does not need engineering materials above ASA. The vision-based calibration checks the plate type and nozzle before a print, which removes the most common causes of a failed first layer on the P1S. The 40 mm³/s flow ceiling with the standard hotend is the practical speed limit; a high-flow hotend lifts it for large parts.

Who should skip it

  • Users printing PC, PA-CF or PPA regularly. Those want an actively heated chamber and a 350 °C hotend, which means the H2D or H2S.
  • Users who need more than 256 mm. The A2L, H2S and H2D are the larger Bambu options.
  • Budget buyers happy with PLA and PETG. The A1 does that for much less; see A1 vs P1S, which applies equally to the P2S.

The units in the box

The listings are the P2S Combo with the AMS 2 Pro and the P2S on its own. The Combo is the stronger buy here than it was for the P1S because the AMS 2 Pro dries filament in place, which removes a separate dryer from the shopping list for most users.
