Bambu Lab A2L Combo: Big Plate, 80 °C Bed

The A2L Combo pairs Bambu’s largest open machine with a changer. The printer gives 330 x 320 x 325 mm, which Bambu describes as 105% more space than the 256 mm class, with a 300 degC stainless nozzle, 500 mm/s, 10 m/s2, a 28 mm3/s flow ceiling and a built-in filament cutter, at 12.8 kg. It supports the second-generation AMS. The number that shapes everything is the 80 degC heatbed: this is a large PLA and PETG machine, not an ABS machine.
Combo bundles are usually the sensible way to buy, because the changer is the accessory most people add anyway. On the A2L there is an extra reason: a big plate and automated colour go together well, since large multi-colour models are exactly what a small plate cannot do.

The built-in filament cutter matters more than it sounds
Most failed loads on any changer come down to the filament tip: a blunt, bent or stringy end catches in the path. The A2L has a cutter built into the extruder, which means every change starts with a clean cut. On a machine designed around automated filament switching, that is a well-aimed feature rather than a bullet point.
The other unusual inclusion is the 300 x 300 mm cutting module, which puts vinyl and sheet cutting on the same machine. Whether that is valuable depends entirely on whether you would use it, but it is a genuine capability.
The 80 degC bed sets the palette
ABS and ASA want a 100 to 110 degC plate and warm still air. The A2L has 80 degC and no enclosure, and Bambu’s own supported list reflects that honestly: PLA, PETG, TPU and PVA, plus PLA-CF and PETG-CF with a hardened steel nozzle.
So plan the combo around colour rather than materials. Large multi-colour PLA and PETG prints, cosplay pieces, props, organisers and signage are what this pairing is for. If you need ABS at this size, you want an enclosed chamber-heated machine instead.
Which changer, and the flow ceiling
Bambu lists the A2L as supporting the second-generation AMS. The AMS 2 Pro dries filament to 65 degC with auto-rotating spools, automatic venting and RFID that sets the drying profile, in a 372 x 280 x 226 mm, 2.5 kg unit. On a large open machine, drying is worth having: big prints run long, and a spool sitting out for twenty hours in a humid room picks up moisture.
One expectation to set: the 28 mm3/s flow figure, quoted with Bambu’s test conditions, is the real limit on how fast a large part finishes. 500 mm/s is the toolhead’s ceiling, not a print speed. Our volumetric speed page explains why flow rather than travel speed decides print time on big parts.
