Short answer

The X-Plus 3 is a 280 × 280 × 270 mm enclosed CoreXY with a 65 °C chamber and 350 °C hotend. The Plus 4 replaced it at 305 × 305 × 280 mm with a 370 °C hotend and the Qidi Box option, and the Plus 5 Combo adds multi-colour at 320 × 320 × 300 mm. Buy the Plus 4 or Plus 5 new; an X-Plus 3 only discounted. All three are engineering-filament machines.

What changed from X-Plus 3 to Plus 4

  • 25 mm more X and Y and a 370 °C hotend, which brings PPS-CF and PPA-CF into range.
  • Qidi Box compatibility for four-spool multi-material.
  • Revised electronics and firmware; the Plus 4 had an early chamber-heater wiring fix, so check a used unit.

Which to buy

Single-material engineering work: Plus 4. Multi-colour or multi-material engineering work: Plus 5 Combo. Smaller desk and parts under 270 mm: Q2. An X-Plus 3 is only worth it at a clear discount; its 350 °C hotend still covers nylon and PC. See the Qidi lineup.

What all of them share

The 65 °C chamber that makes nylon and PC print without cracking, Klipper-based firmware with root access, nozzle-contact bed probing that wants a clean tip, and a smaller spares ecosystem than Creality or Bambu; see Plus 4 upgrades.

FAQ

Can the X-Plus 3 hotend be upgraded to 370 °C? Qidi sells hotend parts; check compatibility for the X-Plus 3 specifically.

Do X-Plus 3 plates fit the Plus 4? No; different bed sizes.
