QIDI has spent several generations building enclosed machines with heated chambers rather than chasing headline speed, and the Max4 continues that line at a larger size. The interesting question is not whether it is fast, but what a large heated chamber is for and whether you need one.

What QIDI lists
QIDI lists the Max4 with a 390 × 390 × 340 mm build volume and a heated chamber, supplied as a combo with multi-colour capability. We have not independently verified those figures against a manufacturer specification sheet, so read them as the listing claim. For context, the Creality K2 Plus is verified at 350 × 350 × 350 mm with a chamber up to 60 °C and a 350 °C hotend, and the Sovol SV08 at 350 × 350 × 345 mm on an open-source CoreXY frame.
A heated chamber is a materials decision
The chamber is not there to print faster. It is there so that ABS, ASA, polycarbonate and filled engineering materials do not warp or delaminate on tall parts. If you print PLA and PETG exclusively, you are paying for a capability you will never use, and an enclosed machine will actually make PLA harder to cool. Buy the chamber because of the material you intend to print, not because it appears on the specification list.
Large plus enclosed is a specific combination
Large machines and heated chambers are individually common; together they are less so, because a big chamber is harder to hold at temperature and puts more heat near the electronics. That combination is what this class is really selling. It matters if you print big functional parts in high-shrinkage material, where a large unheated bed would simply lift the corners.
Multi-colour on a large plate
Combo versions add multi-material capability, which interacts awkwardly with size: purge waste scales with the number of colour changes, not with part size, so a long multi-colour job on a big plate can waste a striking amount of filament. Plan colour changes deliberately rather than letting the slicer choose.

Do I need a heated chamber for PLA? No, and it can hurt. PLA wants active cooling.
Is the extra 40 mm over a 350 mm machine meaningful? Rarely on its own. Choose between this class and the 350 mm class on chamber, materials and parts availability instead.
How much filament does multi-colour waste? It scales with colour changes rather than part size, so limit the number of changes on long jobs.
