HMS 07FE-8000-0002-0002 — Switching lever failed to hit the rod
Short answer

HMS 07FE-8000-0002-0002 means the extruder switching lever failed to hit the rod, possibly because the XY motor lost steps, and asks you to check for obstructions blocking toolhead movement such as a PTFE tube. The switch is triggered by driving the toolhead against a fixed rod, so anything that shortens that travel breaks it.

Two candidates, and they are easy to tell apart: an obstruction stops the head early every time, while lost steps move the miss around.

The message blames the XY motor and names a PTFE tube. Both are checkable.

Where to buy

Check the belt before blaming the motor

A GT2 belt that has stretched or picked up a flat spot loses steps under acceleration long before the motor does. Belt is the cheap part and the common one, so it is the honest place to start.

Stop the tube pulling out of its socket

A PC4-M10 push-fit coupler that no longer grips lets the PTFE tube creep out and wander into the gantry path. That is precisely the obstruction the message names, and a worn collet is the reason it happens.

Replace the tube rather than re-cutting it

PTFE tube goes stiff and oval where it has been clamped, and a stiff tube does not follow the head. A five-metre roll costs almost nothing and removes the variable completely.

Then watch one switch from the side

Run the switch while looking along the gantry. A head that stops short at the same point has an obstruction; a head that reaches the rod sometimes and not others is losing steps.

How HMS 07FE-8000-0002-0002 differs from a jammed mechanism

A switch blocked inside the toolhead is HMS 07FE-8000-0001-0001. This code is about the toolhead not arriving, not about the mechanism refusing to move.

When the end of travel has simply moved

A drifted limit angle is HMS 07FE-8000-0001-0005. Belt condition is covered in belt tension and missed steps in layer shifting.

HMS 07FE-8000-0002-0002 FAQ

How do I know it is lost steps?

The miss moves around. An obstruction does not.

Which PTFE tube does it mean?

Any that can reach the gantry. Check the routing of all of them.

Does a layer shift appear too?

Often, in the same print. That confirms lost steps.

Can I tension the belt myself?

Yes, and it is the first thing worth trying.

Chafed wiring shows up as an electrical fault elsewhere. HMS 0700-8000-0001-0003 means the AMS heater has a short circuit, from either the wiring or the element, and those cost very different amounts.
