HMS 0700-8700-0002-0003 — Filament blocked at the inlet
Short answer

HMS 0700-8700-0002-0003 means filament is blocked at the inlet of the Filament Track Switch. Something is physically in the way at a specific, reachable point, which makes this one of the more satisfying codes in the family.

The usual culprits are a filament end that was cut at an angle, a fragment snapped off a brittle spool, or swarf from a previous jam.

A physical blockage in a place you can actually look at.

Where to buy

Look at it properly before you poke it

A digital microscope on a stand shows the inlet and the filament end at a magnification that makes the problem obvious. Poking blindly at a blockage usually packs it tighter.

Retrieve metal debris without dismantling

A telescoping magnetic pick-up tool gets a dropped screw or a spring out of a recess you cannot reach. It is the tool that saves the teardown.

Grip filament, not the housing

Precision anti-static tweezers let you take hold of a 1.75 mm end and pull it straight out. Pliers crush the filament and turn a retrievable end into a jam.

Then cut the end square and retry

Trim the filament flat, not at a point, and feed it back by hand. An end that was cut at an angle is the single most common cause of this message.

How HMS 0700-8700-0002-0003 differs from a routing fault

Filament that never arrives at all is HMS 0700-8700-0002-0009, which points at the PTFE route rather than at the inlet.

When the problem starts at the spool

An overloaded slot is HMS 0700-6000-0002-0001. General method is in troubleshooting and the layout in the AMS hub guide.

HMS 0700-8700-0002-0003 FAQ

Can I clear it with the filament itself?

Sometimes, by pushing a fresh end through. Look first.

Why does a pointed end jam?

It rides up at the transition instead of entering square.

Should I take the module apart?

Not before you have looked into it with light and magnification.

Does brittle filament cause this?

Often. Dry filament snaps and leaves fragments behind.

Dust collects on more than the filament path. HMS 0500-0400-0002-0042 means the live camera is dirty or obscured, and a lens pointing into the chamber collects everything a printer produces.
