Short answer

The Centauri Carbon is a 256 × 256 × 256 mm enclosed CoreXY with a 320 °C hardened-steel nozzle, 500 mm/s, 20000 mm/s², a chamber camera and full auto calibration, at a price that undercut the Bambu P1S. It prints PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA and fibre blends well. It has no heated chamber and, on the original model, no multi-colour; the Centauri Carbon 2 Combo adds a filament system.

Why it matters

Before the Centauri Carbon, an enclosed 256 mm CoreXY with a hardened nozzle and a camera meant Bambu money. Elegoo delivered the same spec class for substantially less, and owner reports on print quality are broadly positive. The hardened nozzle as standard is the detail that matters: fibre-filled filament works from day one without an upgrade.

Limits

  • Passive chamber. Fine for ABS and ASA; large nylon and PC parts crack. Heated chambers start at the Qidi Q-series and Bambu H2 series.
  • Software. Elegoo Slicer is an OrcaSlicer fork; it works, but the ecosystem is smaller than Bambu Studio.
  • No multi-colour on the original model. The Centauri Carbon 2 Combo adds a four-spool system; see Centauri Carbon multi-colour.
  • Spares are improving but thinner than Creality or Bambu; see Centauri Carbon upgrades.

Against the P1S and K1C

Versus the P1S: same size, higher nozzle temperature and bed temperature, hardened nozzle standard, better camera, no AMS ecosystem. Versus the K1C: 36 mm more on each axis, similar materials capability, less established firmware community. For a first enclosed printer on a budget, the Centauri Carbon is the value pick; for multi-colour, the P1S or P2S Combo; for open Klipper, the K1C. See Centauri Carbon vs A1 for the open-frame comparison.

FAQ

Does it need a hardened nozzle upgrade? No; one is fitted from the factory.

Can it print nylon? Small parts with dried filament, yes; large parts want a heated chamber.

Do Bambu plates fit? Same 256 mm class; check the magnet and tab layout on the listing. See plates.
