Elegoo Centauri Carbon Build Plate: The 260 by 271 mm Sheet, and Which Replacements Fit

The Centauri Carbon takes a plate about 260 by 271 mm for its 256 by 256 mm bed; it is not the Bambu 256 mm plate and the tabs differ. The Centauri is enclosed, so buy a textured PEI plate for PETG, ABS and everyday work, with a smooth side for glossy PLA. Check that the listing names the Centauri Carbon.
The Centauri Carbon is Elegoo’s enclosed CoreXY and, like every enclosed printer, it runs ABS and ASA at bed temperatures that wear a plate’s coating faster than PLA. The stock plate is double-sided; replacements from Elegoo and third parties are sized for it, and because the bed is 256 mm people sometimes buy Bambu plates by mistake. The dimensions and the locating features are different.

What to check
- Listed for the Centauri Carbon, about 260 by 271 mm with the Centauri’s locating features. Plates for other printers do not fit.
- Spring steel 0.5 mm or thicker so the plate stays flat on the magnets.
- Coating thickness stated; ABS and ASA on the enclosed Centauri wear the coating; buy thick.
- Double-sided if you want smooth PEI as well as textured on one sheet.
Surface by material
- PLA: textured or smooth PEI, 55 to 60 °C.
- PETG: textured PEI, 70 to 80 °C; smooth PEI only with a glue-stick release layer.
- TPU: textured PEI, 40 to 50 °C.
- ABS and ASA: textured PEI at 95 to 100 °C with the enclosure closed and preheated, or smooth PEI with glue. Lifting on a warm Centauri means a greasy plate.
The plates in the box
The PEI plate for the Centauri Carbon and Centauri, the upgraded double-sided PEI plate for it, and the three-pack of 260 by 271 mm plates are all sized for the Centauri; the three-pack is the economical spare set.
Swapping
- Wash the new plate with dish soap and hot water; dry; handle by the edges.
- Seat it against the rear stop on the magnetic bed.
- Run the printer’s auto-leveling so it measures the new plate.
- If the first layer will not stick, wash again before changing anything; see smooth versus textured.

Do Bambu P1S plates fit the Centauri? No; close in size, different tabs.
Textured or smooth for ABS? Textured with the chamber warm; smooth with glue.
Why did adhesion drop in the centre? Coating wear. Wash first; replace if that fails.
