The SE is the stripped version of the K2 line: the CoreXY motion is there, the extras are not. At this price that is a good trade, provided you read the speed claim as a travel figure rather than a promise about how fast your parts will print.

What CoreXY is doing at this price
Keeping the bed off the fast axes, which is what lets a machine hold its speed as the part grows. On a bed slinger the plate carries the part back and forth and the achievable speed falls away as the print gets heavier. Our CoreXY guide covers why that matters more than any single specification.
Getting that layout at the bottom of the market is genuinely new. A few years ago it was a thousand-dollar feature.

What the speed number really means
Every machine in this class quotes a figure in millimetres per second, and none of them extrude at it. The cap on real printing is volumetric flow: how many cubic millimetres of plastic the hotend can melt each second. Travel moves can hit the headline number; extrusion cannot.
The useful comparison between machines is the flow rate, and our page on high speed printing sets out how to read it. A machine quoting 500 mm/s with a modest hotend will print a real part slower than one quoting less with a better one.
What the SE drops
Read the listing against the full K2 carefully, because SE variants differ by market and by bundle. Typically you lose the multi-material system, some of the enclosure, and convenience features like cameras and filament sensing. The motion system and the frame are the parts worth having and they are what you are buying.
If colour is the priority rather than speed, the Kobra X reaches four colours at similar money by spending it differently.
Who should buy at this price
Someone who prints often, mostly in PLA and PETG, and is tired of a bed slinger slowing down on bigger parts. Someone who wants a second machine to run alongside a first. Not someone who needs an enclosure for engineering materials, because that is a different tier and adding it afterwards rarely works out cheaper.

Will it actually print at 500 mm/s? Travel moves, yes. Extrusion, no, and neither will anything else at this price.
Is the SE worth it over a bed slinger? If you print large or tall parts, clearly. On small PLA parts the difference is modest.
Can I add multi-colour later? Usually, via the matching feeder. Check compatibility with your exact variant before assuming.
Does it handle ABS? Only with an enclosure, and small parts even then.
