Key figures for CoreXY vs Bedslinger: What the Frame Changes, and the CoreXY Printers to Buy: 40000 mm/s² CoreXY, 10000 mm/s² slinger.
Short answer

CoreXY moves the toolhead in X and Y with two crossed belts while the bed only moves down in Z. The moving mass is small and constant, so acceleration can be high and tall heavy parts do not get flung back and forth. Bedslingers move the whole bed in Y; simpler and cheaper, but speed drops as the part grows. In 2026 CoreXY starts at the Flashforge AD5M and Creality K1C price, so the old reason to buy a bedslinger, cost, mostly no longer applies above the entry level.

How the two frames differ

CoreXY vs bedslinger
Property CoreXY Bedslinger
Moving mass in XY Toolhead only Toolhead in X; bed and part in Y
Acceleration 20000 to 40000 mm/s² 8000 to 10000 mm/s²
Tall or heavy parts Unaffected Ringing and layer shifts as mass grows
Enclosure Natural; cube frame Awkward; bed travels outside the footprint
Belt path Long, crossed; needs tuning Short, simple
Cost Now from budget upward Cheapest entry
Maintenance Belt tension across two long loops Simple

Where bedslingers still win

  • Entry price: the Ender-3 V3 SE and Neptune 4 remain the cheapest working printers.
  • Access: an open bed is easy to watch and to clear a clog.
  • Very large formats on a budget, where a 400 mm CoreXY frame is expensive; the Kobra 3 Max and Neptune 4 Max accept slow speeds for size.
  • Bambu’s A1 series proves a bedslinger with auto-tuned input shaping is fast enough for most people.

Speed only counts if the printer can use it; see high-speed printers and ringing for where frames fail. The SV08 is the CoreXY for tinkerers; the P2S and Centauri Carbon for everyone else.

FAQ

Is CoreXY more accurate? Not inherently; it holds accuracy at higher speed.

What is CoreXZ? Creality’s Ender-3 V3 variant: crossed belts for X and Z with a moving bed in Y.
