HMS 0700-3500-0001-0002 — AMS humidity sensor disconnected
Short answer

HMS 0700-3500-0001-0002 means the AMS humidity sensor is disconnected, which may be due to poor connector contact. Without it the AMS cannot tell you how damp the filament is, and it cannot decide when drying has done its job.

Humidity sensors are small surface-mount parts on small boards with small connectors. The connector is almost always the thing that fails.

It names poor connector contact, and small connectors are the usual story.

Where to buy

Get an independent reading

A digital hygrometer inside the AMS tells you what the chamber is really doing while the built-in sensor is out of action. It is also how you find out whether your desiccant is still working at all.

Know what the sensor is

These are standard digital humidity and temperature parts in the SHT family. A module on the bench gives you a reference reading and a way to confirm that what you are seeing is a wiring fault rather than a dead sensor.

See the connector you are working on

A magnifying lamp with a clamp puts both light and magnification on a connector the size of a grain of rice. Most of these repairs are easy once you can actually see the contact.

Then reseat it and watch

Unplug, inspect for a bent or pushed-back contact, reseat and run a drying cycle. A reading that returns and then vanishes when the chamber warms is a connector, not a sensor.

How HMS 0700-3500-0001-0002 differs from a temperature fault

The heater sensor has its own code in HMS 0700-9400-0001-0001. Humidity and temperature are separate parts that fail separately.

What drying depends on besides the sensor

A cold room gives HMS 0700-9600-0002-0002. Consumables are covered in desiccant choices and method in drying filament.

HMS 0700-3500-0001-0002 FAQ

Can I dry without it?

The AMS will be reluctant, and you will be flying blind.

Is the reading usually accurate?

Close enough to be useful. Compare it with a hygrometer.

Why does the connector fail?

Heat cycling plus a very small contact area.

Does desiccant still matter?

Yes. Drying and storage are different jobs.

Modules go silent as well as misreport. HMS 0700-7400-0001-0001 means the Filament Track Switch is offline, which is the printer saying nothing answers on that link at all.
