HMS 0300-9500-0001-0006 — Laser module not detected
Short answer

HMS 0300-9500-0001-0006 means the laser module is not detected, and the message offers two reasons: the module may have fallen off, or the quick-release lever may not be locked. An unlocked lever looks exactly like a fitted module and behaves like a missing one.

This is the kindest code in the family, because the most likely cause takes two seconds to rule out and costs nothing.

The message names the quick-release lever. Check it before anything else.

Where to buy

Seat it with the right driver, not by feel

A ball-end hex key set reaches the module fixings at the angle the gantry allows. Ball ends matter here: a straight key cannot enter a socket you can only approach off-axis, and that is how people end up leaving one screw loose.

Stop the fixings backing out again

Medium-strength blue threadlocker is correct for a part you intend to remove again. It holds through the vibration of a gantry and still releases with a hex key, which high-strength grades do not.

Replace the hardware you have rounded

An M3 screw and washer assortment covers almost every fixing on a toolhead. A rounded or stretched screw is the reason a module sits a fraction proud, and a fraction proud is enough for the contacts not to meet.

Then look at the contacts themselves

With the module off, look at the mating contacts under good light. Bent or blackened pins give intermittent detection, and intermittent is worse to live with than absent.

How HMS 0300-9500-0001-0006 differs from overheating

A module that is present but too hot is HMS 0300-9500-0001-0003. This code means no communication at all, which is mechanical far more often than electrical.

What to do once it is seen again

A refitted module needs its mounting calibration, which is HMS 0500-0400-0002-0035. Safety requirements are in laser engravers and the platform in the Bambu Lab H2D.

HMS 0300-9500-0001-0006 FAQ

Where is the quick-release lever?

On the module mount. It has to be fully over, not nearly.

Can I print normally?

Yes. Only laser work is blocked.

Do I recalibrate after refitting?

Yes. Anything that moves the module moves the focus.

What if it is intermittent?

Suspect the contacts rather than the lever.

A connection can be present and still drop out. HMS 07FE-8000-0001-0006 means the TH board disconnected during the extruder switching process, and the timing tells you it opens only while something is moving.
