The toolchanger part

Four complete hotends, docked on the frame, picked up as the job needs them. The benefit is the same as on any toolchanger: no purge between colours, so waste and time both fall sharply on multi-colour work. Our toolchanger page works through that arithmetic, and the Snapmaker U1 is the obvious cross-shop at a similar price.

What chamber type allows: an open frame suits PLA and PETG, a passive enclosure handles some ABS with care, and an active 65 degree chamber runs ABS, ASA and filled filaments.
A passive box traps some heat; an actively heated chamber holds a set temperature. That difference is what decides whether large ABS parts split along their layers.

What the Pro version actually adds

An actively heated chamber is not the same as an enclosure. A passive box traps waste heat from the bed and holds the air somewhat above room temperature, which helps a little. An active chamber heats the air to a set point and holds it there for the whole print.

That matters for one specific failure: layer splitting in materials that shrink as they cool. ABS, ASA and many filled grades contract enough that if the layer below has cooled too far, the new layer cannot bond to it properly and the part cracks, usually on a tall flat face. Chamber heat keeps the whole part in a temperature range where bonding still works.

If everything you print is PLA and PETG, the Pro is money spent on a capability that will actively hurt you, because PLA prefers cool air. Our page on enclosed printers covers where that line falls.

Choosing between them

Buy the standard version if you print in colour and in easy materials. Buy the Pro if the parts are functional, if they are large, or if the materials list includes anything that warps. The toolchanging is identical; you are choosing a thermal environment.

FAQ

Can I add a chamber heater later? Not sensibly. Chamber heating is designed into the machine, including how the electronics are kept cool.

Do four heads slow the print down? Only by the swap time, which is seconds. It is far less than purging.

Is the chamber enough for nylon? It helps considerably. Drying the filament matters at least as much.

Does the standard version handle ABS at all? Small parts, with care. Large flat parts are where it will let you down.
