Short answer

The Adventurer 5M, 5M Pro and AD5X share the same plate, and Flashforge sells it in a textured PEI and a smooth PEI version; third-party double-sided plates for the 5M fit all three. Buy textured for PETG and everyday work, smooth for glossy PLA and for ABS with glue on the enclosed 5M Pro. Check that a listing names the Adventurer 5M family.

Flashforge’s Adventurer 5M line uses one plate across the open 5M, the enclosed 5M Pro and the multi-colour AD5X, so replacements are easy to find and the choice is only about surface. The enclosed 5M Pro is the one that runs ABS and ASA and wears coatings faster; the open 5M prints PLA and PETG and mostly needs a spare so one plate can cool while the other prints.

What to check

  • Listed for the Adventurer 5M, 5M Pro or AD5X, sized to the 220 mm bed with the 5M’s locating features. Plates for other printers do not fit.
  • Spring steel 0.5 mm or thicker so the plate stays flat on the magnets.
  • Coating thickness stated; on the 5M Pro, ABS and ASA at high bed temperature wear the coating; on the open 5M it lasts.
  • Double-sided if you want smooth PEI as well as textured on one sheet.

Surface by material

  • PLA: textured or smooth PEI, 55 to 60 °C.
  • PETG: textured PEI, 70 to 80 °C; smooth PEI only with a glue-stick release layer.
  • TPU: textured PEI, 40 to 50 °C.
  • ABS and ASA: on the 5M Pro, textured PEI at 95 to 100 °C with the door closed, or smooth PEI with glue; on the open 5M, small parts only, and expect lifting.

The plates in the box

Flashforge’s official double-sided upgrade plate and its smooth PEI plate are the direct options for the 5M, 5M Pro and AD5X; the third-party dual-sided textured PEI plate for the Adventurer 5M is the value alternative.

Swapping

  1. Wash the new plate with dish soap and hot water; dry; handle by the edges.
  2. Seat it against the rear stop on the magnetic bed.
  3. Run the printer’s auto-leveling so it measures the new plate; smooth and textured differ by a couple of tenths in Z.
  4. If the first layer will not stick, wash again before changing anything; see smooth versus textured.

FAQ

Do 5M plates fit the 5M Pro and AD5X? Yes; all three share it.

Textured or smooth for the open 5M? Textured; it forgives more and handles PETG.

Does the AD5X’s multi-colour change the plate rules? No.
