Creality Hi Enclosure: Sizing a Tent for a 260 mm Bed-Slinger With a CFS on Top

Short answer

The Creality Hi needs an enclosure deep enough for its 260 mm bed at full travel and tall enough for the CFS multi-material unit on top, which rules out the small Ender 3 tents. A medium or large fabric enclosure with a vent port fits. It lets you print small ABS and ASA parts and blocks draughts; keep the door open for PLA and stay under 40 °C, because the Hi’s electronics are built for open air.

The Hi is a bed-slinger like an Ender but bigger, and with the CFS it is tall. That makes it awkward to enclose: the bed travels forward past the frame, the CFS adds height, and the spool path from the CFS must not kink. A tent that fits the Hi has to be measured for all three. The reward is the usual one for an open printer: no draughts on PETG, dust kept off, and small ABS parts made possible.

Measure before you buy

  • Depth: the Hi with the bed at its front stop, plus 5 cm.
  • Height: the gantry at top of travel with the CFS mounted, or the CFS placed beside the printer with a longer PTFE run.
  • Width: frame plus the spool holder or the CFS if it sits alongside.
  • Vent port for ABS and ASA fumes and to keep the chamber under control.
  • Cable and filament pass-throughs so a dryer can sit outside.

The enclosures in the box

The medium YOOPAI enclosure with LED lighting and the ventilated enclosure sized for larger printers are the two tents that can house the Hi; check each listing’s internal dimensions against your measurements with the CFS in place. Neither is Hi-specific; both are generic tents in the right size class.

Using it

  1. PLA and PETG: door or vent open. A closed tent above 35 °C causes heat-creep clogs in PLA on an open-frame hotend.
  2. ABS and ASA: closed, 35 to 40 °C, small parts. Tall parts will still crack; the Hi cannot hold a real ABS chamber, and its power supply sits inside the frame.
  3. Keep the CFS outside the warm space if the layout allows; PLA in a warm CFS softens.
  4. Smoke detector above the enclosure.

When not to bother

For PLA and PETG, a corner away from doors and windows does most of what a tent does. For regular ABS or ASA, the Hi is the wrong printer; an enclosed machine is. See warping for what ABS actually needs.

FAQ

Will an Ender 3 tent fit the Hi? No; too small in every direction.

Can the CFS go inside the tent? If the height allows. It is better beside the tent with the tube through a grommet.

Does the Hi print ASA in a tent? Small parts, sometimes. Not reliably.
