Bambu P1S vs H2D: Is the Jump Worth It

The H2D is not a P1S upgrade so much as a different category: 325 × 320 × 325 mm, 350 °C, 65 °C heated chamber, two nozzles. If you are a P1S owner wanting better camera, hotend and drying at 256 mm, the P2S is the step. If you want the heated chamber for engineering filaments but not two nozzles, the H2S. The H2D is for people who need purge-free dual material or the laser editions.

Three steps up from a P1S
- P2S: same size, better camera, tool-less hotend, 110 °C bed, AMS 2 Pro drying. The upgrade most P1S owners actually want; see P1S vs P2S.
- H2S: 340 × 320 × 340 mm, 350 °C, heated chamber, one nozzle. The upgrade for nylon and PC.
- H2D: everything in the H2S plus a second nozzle and laser options. The upgrade for two-material work.
What does not carry over
Plates (256 mm to a larger size), hotends (P1 family to H2 family) and the passive-chamber PLA habits: on the H2D, PLA needs the airflow flap in cool mode. A first-gen AMS does carry over. See the H2D page.
Decision
Write down what the P1S cannot do for you. Bad camera and old hotend: P2S. Nylon cracks and PC warps: H2S. Purge waste and soluble supports: H2D. Nothing on that list: keep the P1S and spend on filament.
The units in the box
The H2D is is not sold on Amazon US; it is bought directly from Bambu Lab. The listings show the Bambu machines that are on Amazon so the alternative can be compared.
FAQ
Can I keep my P1S AMS with an H2D? Yes; first-generation AMS units work on the H2 series.
Is the H2D much louder? More fans and a chamber heater; owner reports say comparable to the P1S at speed.
