Short answer

The Kobra S1 takes a plate about 264 by 276 mm, sized for its 250 by 250 mm bed, and plates from the Kobra 3 line do not fit. The S1 is enclosed, so buy a textured PEI plate for PETG, ABS and everyday work and a smooth side or plate for glossy PLA. Check that the listing names the Kobra S1.

The S1 is Anycubic’s enclosed CoreXY, which means its plate sees ABS and ASA at high bed temperatures more than an open Kobra’s does. That wears the textured coating in the centre over a few hundred prints, and a fresh plate is the fix when adhesion drops. Replacement plates are listed for the S1 specifically; a few Kobra X plates share the size.

What to check

  • Listed for the Kobra S1, about 264 by 276 mm. Plates for other printers do not fit.
  • Spring steel 0.5 mm or thicker so the plate stays flat on the magnets.
  • Coating thickness stated; the enclosed S1 runs ABS and ASA hot, which wears powder coat.
  • Double-sided if you want smooth PEI as well as textured on one sheet.

Surface by material

  • PLA: textured or smooth PEI, 55 to 60 °C.
  • PETG: textured PEI, 70 to 80 °C; smooth PEI only with a glue-stick release layer.
  • TPU: textured PEI, 40 to 50 °C.
  • ABS and ASA: textured PEI at 95 to 100 °C with the enclosure closed and preheated, or smooth PEI with glue stick. Lifting on a warm S1 means a greasy plate.

The plates in the box

The upgraded double-sided PEI plate for the Kobra S1, the Kobra X plate listed as fitting the S1, and the 264 by 276 mm double-sided plate are the three replacements sized for it.

Swapping

  1. Wash the new plate with dish soap and hot water; dry; handle by the edges.
  2. Seat it against the rear stop on the magnetic bed.
  3. Run the printer’s auto-leveling so it measures the new plate.
  4. If the first layer will not stick, wash again before changing anything; see smooth versus textured.

FAQ

Do Kobra 3 plates fit the S1? No; different size.

Does the ACE Pro affect the plate? No.

Glue for ABS in the S1? Not on textured PEI with the chamber warm.
