Prusa Error 13208: Print Head MINTEMP, an Open Circuit

Prusa error 13208 means the print head thermistor reported below its valid minimum. A cold hotend reads room temperature; below minimum means no circuit at all. Prusa’s text says to check the print head thermistor wiring, and on a moving head the break is almost always where the loom flexes tightest.
The four print-head temperature codes divide neatly. 13202 means it never reached target. 13204 means it reached target and then the reading diverged. 13206 means the reading went above range. 13208, this one, means it went below range. Each points at a different physical fault.

Where to buy
Check in this order
- Reseat the connector. At the board and at the head. A pin backed part-way out of its housing gives an open circuit that looks intact.
- Flex the loom while watching the reading. A temperature that appears and vanishes as you move the cable locates the break precisely.
- Look at the tightest bend. The print head cable fails where it curves most, after thousands of layers of movement.
- Measure the thermistor. A 100 K NTC reads roughly 100 kΩ at room temperature. Open circuit means replace it.
Why it is almost never a cold printer
The minimum is set below any plausible room temperature precisely so a cold workshop does not trip it. If you genuinely printed in an unheated garage in winter you might see it once at power-on, and it would clear as things warm. A fault that appears mid-print is wiring.
Related codes
13206 is the same sensor reading above range, which is a short rather than a break. 13207 is the equivalent open circuit on the heatbed. Where the sensor physically sits is covered in hotend anatomy.
This error reads 12208 on MINI, 31208 on CORE One, 35208 on CORE One L and 23208 on MK3.5.
Prusa Error 13208 FAQ
Is my hotend too cold?
No. Below-range means an open circuit. A cold hotend reads room temperature and heats normally once commanded.
Can I test the thermistor in place?
Yes. Unplug it at the board and measure across the connector: about 100 kΩ cold is healthy, open circuit is not.
Why does it come and go?
A partial break or a loose pin rather than a failed sensor. It reads correctly in some head positions and not others.
Should I splice the cable or replace it?
Replace, on a cable that flexes thousands of times per print. A splice is a repair that will fail again in the same place.
