HMS 07FE-7000-0002-0003 — Filament runout detected in the extruder
Short answer

HMS 07FE-7000-0002-0003 means filament runout was detected in the extruder and asks you to load new filament. Nothing is broken, and the only real question is whether the detection was correct or whether something upstream stopped the feed.

The sensor reports the absence of filament at one point. It cannot tell you whether the spool is empty or the filament simply stopped arriving.

Not a fault. The one message in this family that is just news.

Where to buy

Know what the sensor is

These are small lever or optical modules that sit in the filament path. Having a spare on the bench lets you prove whether a runout that keeps appearing with filament loaded is a dead sensor.

Stop being surprised by the end of a spool

A hanging scale tells you how much filament is left in about ten seconds: weigh the spool, subtract the empty weight printed on the core. Doing that before a long print is cheaper than a failed print.

Join the remnant instead of binning it

A filament splicer welds the tail of one spool to the head of the next, which turns two half spools into one usable one. On long prints it also removes the pause entirely.

Then check it really was empty

If the spool still has filament, the feed stopped rather than ran out. That is a different problem and it is upstream of the sensor.

How HMS 07FE-7000-0002-0003 differs from a tangle

A spool that has plenty left and will not feed is HMS 07FE-6000-0002-0001. Runout means the sensor saw nothing at all in the path.

What happens if the stub stays in the head

A remnant left above the nozzle leads to the cold pull in HMS 07FE-A000-0002-0001. Filament choices are compared in SUNLU filament and filament brands.

HMS 07FE-7000-0002-0003 FAQ

Will the print resume?

Yes, once new filament is loaded and purged.

It says runout but the spool is full?

Then the feed stopped. Suspect a tangle or the sensor.

How do I weigh what is left?

Hanging scale, minus the core weight on the label.

Is splicing reliable?

For the same material and diameter, yes.

Another message where nothing is actually broken. HMS 0700-9200-0002-0003 means the AMS cooling fan cannot start because the power adapter is not connected, and the drying hardware needs its own supply.
