HMS 0700-2000-0003-0001 — Ran out, purging the old filament
Short answer

HMS 0700-2000-0003-0001 means AMS1 Slot1 filament has run out and asks you to wait while the old filament is purged. It is a progress message. The one thing that goes wrong here is somebody intervening halfway through the purge.

The printer is clearing the hotend of the old material so the next colour comes out clean. That takes a minute or two and produces waste.

An instruction, not a fault: wait.
An instruction, not a fault: wait.

Where to buy

Give the purge somewhere to land

A heat-resistant silicone mat under the purge area takes molten plastic without bonding to it, and the waste lifts off cold in one piece. Paper and cardboard both end up welded to the mess.

Clear the waste properly afterwards

A thin scraper or spatula gets purge residue off the plate without gouging the surface. A metal kitchen knife does the job once and ruins the plate doing it.

Clean the plate before the print resumes

Isopropyl in a spray bottle removes the film the purge leaves behind, which is the film the next layer would otherwise fail to stick to. It is thirty seconds and it saves the job.

Then let it finish on its own

Do not pull filament, open the door or cancel while the purge is running. An interrupted purge leaves old material in the hotend, and that is a blockage rather than a message. How the unit sequences a change is in the AMS hub guide.

How HMS 0700-2000-0003-0001 relates to the plain run-out

The bare statement that a reel is finished is HMS 0700-2000-0002-0001. This code is the printer telling you what it is doing about it.

When it switches instead of waiting

With a duplicate loaded you get HMS 0700-2000-0003-0002 and no pause at all. An interrupted purge shows up later as the symptoms in clearing a clogged nozzle.

HMS 0700-2000-0003-0001 FAQ

How long does a purge take?

A minute or two, depending on the colour change.

Can I speed it up?

No, and interrupting it causes a real fault.

Why so much waste?

The hotend holds a volume of the old colour that has to come out.

Will my print be marked?

Not if the purge completes. That is what it is for.
