HMS 0500-0400-0002-0050 — The laser safety window is not installed
Short answer

HMS 0500-0400-0002-0050 means the laser safety window is not installed. The machine will not run the laser without it, and that refusal is protecting your eyesight rather than inconveniencing you.

Laser light scattered off a cut is still laser light, and the window is what filters it to a level your eyes survive.

Where to buy

Fit the window the machine expects

A laser safety window is filtered acrylic matched to the module’s wavelength, not ordinary clear acrylic. Clear sheet looks the same and filters nothing, which is the dangerous part.

Close the rest of the enclosure too

A window in an otherwise open machine still leaves scatter paths. A fire-resistant enclosure around the work area is the complete version of what the window starts, and it contains smoke as well as light.

Keep an extinguisher within reach

Laser cutting sets material alight as part of normal operation, and a small ABC extinguisher beside the machine is the difference between a scorch mark and a workshop fire. Buy it before the first cut, not after.

Then confirm the interlock is satisfied

Fit the window, check the machine arms, and look at whether the stop button and key are also in place. All three gate the laser.

How HMS 0500-0400-0002-0050 fits the interlock chain

The stop button is HMS 0500-0400-0001-0051 and the key is HMS 0500-0400-0001-0052. Three separate codes, one safety case.

What else laser work needs

Optics maintenance is HMS 0500-0400-0002-0041. The full requirements are in laser engravers on 3D printers.

HMS 0500-0400-0002-0050 FAQ

Can I use clear acrylic?

No. It filters nothing at the wavelength that matters.

Do I still need safety glasses?

Yes, rated for your wavelength. The window is not a substitute.

Why does the machine refuse outright?

Because this one is about eyesight, not print quality.

Is an enclosure required?

Not by the machine, but it is the sensible completion of it.

The cutting side of the same toolhead has its own sensor. HMS 0300-2800-0001-0001 means the force sensor data is abnormal, and the magnet on the tool holder falling off is the cheap explanation.
