HMS 0500-0400-0001-0051 — Emergency stop button not in position
Short answer

HMS 0500-0400-0001-0051 means the emergency stop button is not in the right position and asks you to follow the Wiki to install it. Nothing is broken: the machine will not arm until the stop button is fitted and released, which is the entire point of a stop button.

On machines with a laser or cutting head, this interlock is not decorative. Treat it as a feature.

A safety interlock doing exactly what it exists to do.

Where to buy

Understand what the button has to be

A proper 22 mm latching emergency stop is a maintained-contact mushroom head, not a momentary pushbutton. Knowing the difference matters if you ever need a spare, and it is worth having one before you need it.

House any wiring you add properly

If your installation runs the stop circuit outside the machine, an ABS junction box keeps that wiring enclosed and strain-relieved. Safety wiring loose on a bench is not a safety circuit.

Terminate it so it can be checked

DIN rail terminal blocks let you prove continuity across the stop circuit without cutting anything, and they make the circuit legible to whoever looks at it next. That includes you in a year.

Then follow the official procedure

Fit it as the Wiki shows, release it, and confirm the machine arms. A stop button installed in the wrong position is a stop button that will not stop anything.

How HMS 0500-0400-0001-0051 pairs with the safety key

The other half of the same interlock chain is HMS 0500-0400-0001-0052, which asks for the safety key. Both have to be satisfied before laser work is allowed.

The third member of the chain

A missing safety window gives HMS 0500-0400-0002-0050. The machine and its safety hardware are described in the Bambu Lab H2D, and laser work generally in laser engravers.

HMS 0500-0400-0001-0051 FAQ

Can I bypass it?

No, and you should not want to on a machine with a laser.

Is the button a consumable?

It can fail latched or open. Keep knowing what spec it is.

Why does it block printing too?

Because the interlock chain arms the whole machine, not just the laser.

Where does it mount?

As the Wiki specifies. Position is part of the safety case.

Some codes deserve the same respect as an interlock. HMS 0300-9100-0001-0001 means chamber heater 1 may have a short circuit, and that is a mains-voltage element rather than a logic signal.
