HMS 0500-0400-0002-0032: Slide In the Laser Module

HMS 0500-0400-0002-0032 asks you to slide in the Laser Module and lock the quick-release lever. Nothing has failed: the machine has been told to do laser work and the module is not in place, or is in place with the lever not fully over.
Half-locked is the state that catches people out, because it looks fitted from a metre away.

Where to buy
Tighten fixings to a figure, not a feel
A preset torque screwdriver stops you over-tightening into a plastic boss or leaving a fixing proud. On a module that is removed and refitted regularly, that is the difference between years of use and a stripped thread.
Put the glasses on before the module goes in
Laser safety glasses rated for the module wavelength belong on your face before anything is powered, not after. For a blue diode module that means an OD-rated filter covering roughly 190 to 490 nm, not general safety glasses.
Store it where it will not get knocked
A foam-lined case keeps the module and its lens safe between jobs. A laser module living loose in a drawer is a lens that will need cleaning and an alignment that will need redoing.
Then seat it and check the lever
Slide it fully home, push the quick-release lever all the way over, and confirm the machine sees it. A lever that is nearly over reads as absent.
How HMS 0500-0400-0002-0032 differs from first-time setup
A module the machine has never seen before gives HMS 0500-0400-0002-0034, which asks for a four-minute setup as well.
When the module is in but not plugged
An unconnected module is HMS 0500-0400-0002-0033. Requirements and safety are in laser engravers and the platform in the Bambu Lab H2D.
HMS 0500-0400-0002-0032 FAQ
Is this a fault?
No. It is the machine asking for the module.
Why does it still show when fitted?
The lever is probably not fully over.
Do I need special glasses?
Yes, rated for your wavelength. Not sunglasses.
Can I leave the module in permanently?
You can, but printing is easier with it out.
