Bambu Lab P1S Build Plate: 256 mm Options, and Which Surface for PLA, PETG and ABS

The P1S uses the 256 by 256 mm Bambu plate, the same one as the P1P, X1 Carbon, A1 and P2S. Buy a textured PEI plate for PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA and TPU; add a smooth PEI plate when you want a glossy bottom on PLA or ABS. Any replacement must have the Bambu front tabs and rear notch.
The P1S ships with a textured PEI plate and prints most materials on it without help. Replacement plates matter for two reasons: the stock plate wears in the centre after a few hundred prints, and the enclosed P1S is the Bambu printer people use for ABS and ASA, which are happier on a smooth plate with glue or on a fresh textured surface. Because the plate size is shared across five Bambu models, the choice of third-party plates is wide.

What to check
- 256 by 256 mm with Bambu tabs and notch.
- Coating thickness stated; thick powder-coat textured PEI lasts longer under PETG and ABS.
- Spring steel 0.5 mm or thicker so it stays flat on the magnetic bed.
- QR code if you want the camera to set the plate type automatically; otherwise set it in the slicer.
Surface by material on the P1S
- PLA: textured PEI at 55 to 65 °C, or smooth PEI for a glossy bottom.
- PETG: textured PEI at 70 to 80 °C. Never bare smooth PEI.
- ABS and ASA: textured PEI at 90 to 100 °C with the door closed and top glass on, or smooth PEI with glue stick. Lifting corners mean the chamber was cold.
- TPU: textured PEI at 40 to 50 °C.
The plates in the box
The two thicker textured PEI plates with QR codes are the 256 mm everyday replacements; the double-sided smooth PEI plate is for glossy PLA and for ABS with glue. See smooth versus textured for the trade-offs.
Swapping
- Wash with dish soap and water; dry; do not touch the surface.
- Set the plate type in Bambu Studio to match.
- Let the P1S run its first-layer calibration on the new plate.
- Keep the stock plate as a spare for PLA.
FAQ

Can I print PETG on the smooth plate? Only with glue stick as a release layer.
