Short answer

The Kobra 3 Max takes a plate around 430 by 430 mm, sized for its 420 mm bed; the standard Kobra 3 plate is far smaller and will not fit. Buy a thick textured PEI plate, because a sheet this size bows on the magnets if it is thin, and keep PETG on the textured side. A smooth side is optional for glossy PLA.

The Kobra 3 Max is a large open bed-slinger, and its plate has the same challenge as every big bed-slinger plate: staying flat across 420 mm while the bed slings back and forth. The ACE Pro multi-material unit adds PLA colours but does not change the plate rules. Thickness first, coating second.

What to check

  • Listed for the Kobra 3 Max, around 430 by 430 mm. Plates for other printers do not fit.
  • Spring steel 0.5 mm or thicker so the plate stays flat on the magnets.
  • Coating thickness stated; the Max prints mostly PLA and PETG in the open, so flatness and thickness matter more than coating longevity.
  • Double-sided if you want smooth PEI as well as textured on one sheet.

Surface by material

  • PLA: textured or smooth PEI, 55 to 60 °C.
  • PETG: textured PEI, 70 to 80 °C; smooth PEI only with a glue-stick release layer.
  • TPU: textured PEI, 40 to 50 °C.
  • ABS and ASA: not practical on an open Kobra 3 Max beyond small parts; textured PEI at 100 °C with glue and a warm room, and expect lifting.

The plates in the box

The upgraded double-sided PEI plate for the Kobra 3 Max and the 430 by 430 mm gold PEI plate listed for it are the two replacements sized for the Max.

Swapping

  1. Wash the new plate with dish soap and hot water; dry; handle by the edges.
  2. Seat it against the rear stop on the magnetic bed.
  3. Run the printer’s auto-leveling so it measures the new plate; smooth and textured differ by a couple of tenths in Z.
  4. If the first layer will not stick, wash again before changing anything; see smooth versus textured.

FAQ

Do Kobra 3 plates fit the Max? No; the Kobra 3 is 250 mm.

Does the ACE Pro change anything about the plate? No; it feeds filament. The plate rules are the printer’s.

Why do large PETG parts lift at the corners? A cold edge on a big bed or a greasy plate. Preheat longer, wash the plate, add a brim.
