HMS 1A00-0100-0002-0024: The Rack Failed to Detach the Hotend From the Toolhead

HMS 1A00-0100-0002-0024 means the rack tried to take the hotend off the toolhead and could not, and Bambu tells you exactly what to check: the locking lever must be in the released position. A lever that has not released, or cannot, is the whole fault in most cases.
This is a mechanical latch problem rather than a detection one, which makes it one of the more satisfying codes to clear.

Where to buy
Look at the lever, with the power off
Find the locking lever on the toolhead and work out which position is released. Then look at where it actually is. A lever sitting between positions is the common finding, and it will neither hold the hotend properly nor let it go.
Why a lever stops moving
Filament residue and dust pack into the pivot over time, and a pivot that has gone stiff moves part way under spring force and stops. A drop of dry PTFE lubricant at the pivot restores the travel; wet oil attracts the dust straight back, which is why dry is the right choice here.
Clear the debris before lubricating
A pick or a plastic pry tool lifts packed material out of the pivot without gouging it. Lubricating over debris just makes a paste that sets harder than what you started with. Work the lever through its full travel a few times afterwards and confirm it snaps rather than creeps. Keeping the whole mechanism clean is covered in the Bambu Lab H2D review.
What HMS 1A00-0100-0002-0024 leads to if forced
Running the swap again with the lever still engaged puts the full force of the rack against a latched hotend. That is how mounts get bent, and a bent mount is a part order rather than a clean. The related drop fault, where the grip let go instead, is HMS 1A00-0100-0002-0025.
The opposite end of the same move
If the toolhead was empty when the nesting started you get HMS 1A00-0100-0002-0021 instead. Detach failures mean a tool is present and stuck; empty-toolhead means there was nothing to move. Hotend construction is covered in 3D printing hotends.
HMS 1A00-0100-0002-0024 FAQ
Can I release the lever by hand?
Yes, with the machine idle, and that is the quickest confirmation of the diagnosis.
Will any lubricant do?
Prefer a dry film. Wet oils collect filament dust in a printer and the pivot stiffens again within weeks.
Is the lever replaceable?
It is part of the toolhead assembly, so a damaged one means a toolhead part. Cleaning fixes nearly all of them.
Why does it only fail sometimes?
Because a stiff pivot is temperature and position dependent. Intermittent is the normal early symptom.
A fetch can be blocked at the carriage rather than the latch. HMS 1A00-0100-0002-0031 means a hotend is already mounted, and the machine will not stack a second one on it.
