HMS 0700-7000-0002-0005 — Failed to feed outside the AMS
Short answer

HMS 0700-7000-0002-0005 means the filament never made it out of the AMS, and Bambu asks you to clip the end flat and check whether the spool is stuck. That first instruction is unusually specific and it is the fix most of the time: a snapped or flattened tip catches at every junction it meets.

Most codes describe a symptom. This one tells you what to do with a pair of cutters, so start there.

Bambu gives an oddly specific instruction. It is worth following literally.

Why a flat cut matters so much

Filament that snapped rather than being cut carries a burr and an angled face. The path it has to travel includes several connectors where the bore steps down, and an angled tip finds the lip at each one instead of sliding past it. A clean, square cut with flush cutters passes through every time.

Cut off more than you think

The damage usually extends beyond the visible break. Trim 20 to 30 mm back into sound material rather than tidying the end, and avoid scissors, which leave a wedge-shaped tip that is worse than a snap.

Then the spool, as instructed

A spool that will not turn freely cannot deliver filament even with a perfect tip. Check it binding on its seat, check for a strand trapped under a neighbouring wrap, and check that the end was not left loose to unwind inside the bay. Unwind a full turn by hand before reloading.

How HMS 0700-7000-0002-0005 differs from the toolhead version

This is the first half of the journey. When the filament leaves the unit and the toolhead refuses it, the code is HMS 0700-7000-0002-0002 instead. The distinction tells you whether to work at the AMS or at the printer, and getting it wrong costs a teardown you did not need.

If it keeps happening on the same spool

Repeated snapping is a moisture symptom rather than a handling one. Brittle filament breaks at the bends the AMS puts into the path by design, and the fix is drying rather than cutting — see the best filament dryer for Bambu. The related load failure is HMS 0700-7000-0002-0003, and the path itself is described in printers with an AMS.

HMS 0700-7000-0002-0005 FAQ

What should I cut with?

Flush cutters, held square to the strand. The aim is a flat face, not a point.

Why not just push it through?

Because the tip is catching rather than meeting resistance, and force turns a catch into a jam you have to dismantle.

Could the buffer be the problem?

It can, and that reports separately. If clipping and a free spool change nothing, look at the unit rather than the filament.

Does cold filament snap more?

Yes, and so does old filament. Both make the clip-and-retry cycle repeat until the spool is dried or replaced.
