HMS 0700-5100-0003-0001: AMS Is Disabled, Load Filament From the Spool Holder

HMS 0700-5100-0003-0001 is not a failure report. It means the AMS is switched off for this print and the machine wants filament fed from the external spool holder instead. Either you disabled it, the sliced file did not use it, or an earlier fault took it out of service.
People spend time troubleshooting this one because it arrives looking like every other code. There may be nothing to fix.

Where to buy
The three ways you get here
A single-material plate sliced without the AMS will say this, which is correct behaviour. The unit can also be turned off in the printer settings, sometimes months earlier and forgotten. And a unit that has been disabled following a communication or motor fault will report the state rather than the original cause.
Check the printer, then the file
Look at the AMS toggle in the machine settings first, because that is the version that confuses people longest. Then look at how the plate was sliced: a file that assigns no filament to AMS slots will not use them no matter what the printer is set to.
If an earlier fault disabled it
Look back through the message history for what happened before this appeared. A lost link to the unit is HMS 0700-5000-0002-0001, and that is the kind of fault that leaves the AMS out of service afterwards. Clearing the state without fixing the cause just brings it back.
Printing properly from the spool holder
Single-material printing from the external holder is a fully supported path, not a limp-home mode. Give the spool a holder that turns freely and keep the run to the toolhead short and gently curved. The trade-offs of working this way are set out in AMS alternatives.
When HMS 0700-5100-0003-0001 is the sensible setting
For long single-colour jobs, bypassing the AMS removes a mechanism, a purge allowance and a class of faults from the print. Plenty of people run this way deliberately on production plates. What the unit buys you in exchange is covered in printers with an AMS.
HMS 0700-5100-0003-0001 FAQ
Is my AMS broken?
Not by this message alone. Check the toggle before assuming anything.
Why did it appear suddenly?
Most often because the plate was sliced differently, or because a fault earlier in the session disabled the unit.
Will the print still work?
Yes, as a single-material job with filament loaded directly.
How do I turn the AMS back on?
Re-enable it in the printer settings and reload the slot. If it switches itself off again, there is an underlying fault to find — start at the AMS hub.
