HMS 0500-0300-0001-0002: The Toolhead Is Malfunctioning

HMS 0500-0300-0001-0002 means the toolhead is malfunctioning and asks you to restart the device. It is a module-level fault rather than a named part, so the restart is a genuine diagnostic step: a module that comes back clean was in a bad state, not broken.
What matters is whether it returns. Once is a glitch; every third print is a hardware problem waiting to be found.

Where to buy
Restart from the wall, not the menu
A menu restart reboots the firmware but leaves the modules powered. Switching off at the socket drops the rails and clears a latched state the firmware cannot. A switched surge-protected strip makes that a one-second job instead of a reach behind the bench.
Rule out the supply before the printer
Module faults that cluster around the same time of day are usually mains sags, not electronics. A small battery backup rides through a dip that would otherwise reset a toolhead mid-layer, and it tells you in its log that the dip happened.
Check the outlet itself
An outlet tester shows a reversed neutral or a missing earth in five seconds. A printer on a badly wired socket throws module faults that no amount of replacing boards will fix.
Then count the repeats
Note the date each time this appears. A pattern is what support will ask for, and a pattern is also what separates a loose connector from a failing module. A related module code is HMS 0500-0300-0001-0001.
How HMS 0500-0300-0001-0002 differs from an expansion fault
If the expansion module rather than the toolhead is at fault, you get HMS 0500-0300-0001-0007, and that message tells you to inspect wiring, which is a stronger hint.
When the motor controller is involved
A fault in the controller that drives the motion system reports HMS 0500-0300-0001-000C. Reading which module is named saves you opening the wrong half of the machine. The platform is described in the Bambu Lab H2D.
HMS 0500-0300-0001-0002 FAQ
Is a restart really the fix?
Often, yes. A module in a bad state clears on a full power cycle.
Menu restart or power switch?
The switch. It drops the rails the firmware cannot.
What if it comes back every print?
Then it is hardware. Start with connectors, then raise it with support.
Could the power supply cause it?
Mains dips do exactly this. Check the socket before the board.
