HMS 1A00-1100-0002-0003 — Coarse homing failed, excessive travel
Short answer

HMS 1A00-1100-0002-0003 means the rack travelled further during coarse homing than the geometry allows, and Bambu tells you to check the timing belt condition. Overtravel means the machine counted more movement than actually happened, and a slipping belt is the normal cause.

Note the direction. Too far and too short are different faults with different first suspects.

Overtravel during homing, and Bambu names the belt in the message.

Where to buy

Why a slipping belt reads as too far

The controller counts motor steps and infers position from them. A belt with too little tension, or with worn teeth, skips under load, so the counted distance runs ahead of the real one. The rack never reaches its reference and the move is reported as having gone on too long.

Inspect before you tighten

Look at the belt itself first. Rounded or missing teeth will slip again at any tension, and a frayed edge means it has been running misaligned. In either condition the belt is a cheap replacement and replacing it is the honest fix. Check that the pulleys and idlers turn freely at the same time, because a seized idler stretches a belt locally and no amount of tensioning helps.

Then tension it properly

Aim for firm with a clear note when plucked, not rigid. Over-tensioning loads the bearings and the motor shaft and trades a loud fault for a quiet one. What correct feels like is set out in 3D printer belt tension.

The near-identical code

Bambu reports almost exactly this condition as HMS 1A00-E000-0001-0006 as well, where the wording also names a loose timing belt. Treat them as one fault with one fix, and note which number you saw if you contact support.

The opposite direction

If homing stopped short instead of running long, the first suspect is an obstruction rather than the belt, and that is HMS 1A00-1100-0002-0002. Reading too far against too short is the whole diagnosis here.

HMS 1A00-1100-0002-0003 FAQ

How tight should the belt be?

Firm with a clear note when plucked. Rigid is its own fault.

Replace or tighten?

Tighten if the teeth are sound, replace if any are rounded or missing.

Does it damage anything?

A slipping belt wears its pulleys, so the cheap repair becomes a less cheap one.

Why two codes for one fault?

They are raised from different stages. The practical fix does not differ — the platform is in the Bambu Lab H2D.
